Detroit Beer Company

Downtown Detroit
on Broadway one
block from Comerica Park.

The crowd is urban and has a mixture of ages. We are probably in the upper age bracket of patrons. In fact we are often the oldest patrons in the bar.

Wireless Access:
Need to check your e-mail on your wireless PDA or computer? Stop in and have a pint and use their wireless system to check your mail or web site.

The Detroit Beer Company opened on October 15, 2003. It is an excellent place to visit before or after a Lions or Tigers game. It is within easy walking distance of both stadiums. The food and beer are both very good. We like to stop in before the Tiger games and have a pint before we head to the game.

They have several varieties of on-site brewed beers. Included in your choices of beers are stout, a wheat, a light beer, IPA and several others. Don't know what to order. The staff is more than willing to give you a taste of several before you make your choice. Their one beer just won an international award. I have to admit that I am not a big micro brewery fan, but I do like the beer at the Detroit Beer Company.

The Staff:

Everyone at the Detroit Beer Company is friendly and does their best to get your beer to you cold staffand your food to you hot. Patrick is our favorite bar tender. He is hard working and always has a smile. (Even if you are rude.) Be nice and he will take great care of you.

One of our favorite employees.

The walls are the original brick walls of the old buildings of Detroit. It all has a tin ceiling. If you like to have a smoke free place to have a pint you will love this bar. The entire upstairs is smoke free. The upstairs has its own bar and rest rooms.

Special Events:

If you live in the Detroit Area make sure to sign up for their e-mail and snail mail list. They have some excellent beer tasting events, special themes and celebrations you may wish to attend.

Prices are moderate and the food is good. Everything from burgers, ribs to pasta. One of our Favorites is the mushroom pasta. The servings are big and we haven't found anything that we didn't like. (Although the open faced steak sandwich could be improved.)
